 METHAMPHETAMINE LABS

 

The information on this page is designed to alert you of impending danger.  Listed below are signs of a meth lab, however, meth labs, (clandestine labs) pose substantial danger to anyone who enters, as well as to the environment.  If a meth lab is suspected, law enforcement should be contacted immediately.  No one who is un-trained should enter this environment.  If a meth lab is discovered after entry, one should exit as soon as possible to limit exposure to hazardous materials and potentially explosive conditions.  Do not turn on or off any electrical switches, or unplug anything (these actions could trigger an explosion).

 

commonly used ingredients:

Ephedrine (cold and allergy medications containing pseudoephedrine, such as Sudafed, Actifed, Allrest capsules, Mini-Thin diet tablets)
Red Phosphorous (strike plate on match covers or highway flares)
Acetone

 

Alcohol (denatured or isopropyl)
DRAIN CLEANER
Ether (engine starting fluid)
Isopropyl Alcohol (Heet)
Iodine
LANTERN FUEL
Hydrogen Peroxide
Battery Acid
Rock Salt
Anhydrous Ammonia (farm fertilizer)

 

Other common signs of a meth lab are as follows:

Chemical odors
Persons coming and going at all hours
Excessive traffic, often short stay
Chemical containers and tubing used in containers
Exhaust fans in constant use
Large quantities of matches, acetone, lithium batteries, and other meth making ingredients
Coffee Grinders, blenders with white residue
Coffee filters with red stains
Filthy living conditions
Chemical containers in the trash
Thermos, plastic liter pop bottles
Plastic baggies
